Dear collectors,

I have read piles of books that have been broken, become dirty, have loose pages, etc. Now I thought it would be fun to fix these books up. Not that they are valuable books, but because I am sorry to throw them away.
I can't find much on this topic online. Usually you end up on bookbinding courses, and not so much about restoration.
Are there people who know whether there are "low-threshold" courses for this, etc.?

First learn to bookbind and then restore, just look on the internet.
You also don't get a driver's license in a race car ...

There is indeed not much to be found about it.
Usually the rule applies: "Don't touch it, it won't get any better!"

But to help you a bit further. Small tears in paper, paper that loosens a bit from the cardboard cover, ... you can polish a bit with an old-fashioned glue stick (there is also a well-known brand). All other glues harden, stain, ...

A book block that can loosen a bit (if you are handy) with some wood glue.

But if the value is not is important and you just want to do it for fun, you cannot do anything wrong, as long as you are satisfied with it yourself. Wide brown adhesive tape is the last resort ...

Robin's Comic Book Restoration has a page on facebook. He may be able to help you with tips. I have already seen very nice restorations of the 1st edition Suske en Wiske, Spirou and Tintin. For a 1st edition Guus slim of me really top work. An example where you can get started yourself are the Spirou bundles. The back is often loose. With bookbinder glue for less than 10 euros you can fix it in no time. Done it yourself, no problem
