The retail value should not be the starting point for a calculation.. if you have a large shop (+50,000 items), where people like to browse through all kinds of stuff, you soon arrive at a considerable amount, say investment. What you sell is ultimately what you should be judged on. As a seller of mainly stamps, which already doesn't bring a lot of 'profit', you end the month with maybe a 10% profit margin. (if you can call that a profit, because most stamps have been purchased at the post over the years for more than the current sales value). But come on, take a 10% profit, then you have to sell for 700 euros per month just to pay for your subscription with the 'profit'? Then sell another 700 euros to have 70 euros left.. (amounts are approximate). What are you doing then?...sometimes I have orders of 3-400 stamps with an average value of 5 euros, immediately start sorting out those 1cent stamps, usually only ready a few hours later, still earn half a euro!?
Site must survive, I understand, been allowed to enjoy for free for a long time, be able to build something, fill Lastdodo with fun for everyone, make LD bigger and more fun with your time, take on some customers' frustrations, be correct for LD's credibility, a solving a problem, even if it costs you money... everything for the good name and the feedback.

In principle, collectors do not have to pay anything, the dealers who help those collectors with items must now also bear the cost of helping to complete their collection. So what the dealer now earns from the collector, LD will cash in for a while.

Still many reservations, this as a frustrated reaction, if it goes down the wrong way, my apologies. Continue to think about it.. but don't think it's feasible for me either.
Think end of an era, but could be wrong.
A subscription per year, for everyone, think of a feasible amount for small and large will yield more than the headaches and the exodus of traders from LD

I understand that your work costs money. But there are enough months that I have no turnover due to the holidays or book markets. If I count the lowest monthly costs, I arrive at a reasonable amount per year. I have therefore already started removing 3/4 of my offer. Otherwise it's just not affordable anymore.
Why not opt for 5% afterwards. To have something left over, I will have to increase the prices by a percentage. The profit is already not that high. And my prices are really not too high.
Another path can be taken. So look before you leap.

FenStrips Agree, it lacks a non-shop option for the true collector. My collection is also protected and I use a number of personal fields such as date of purchase and original purchase price. Both not exportable unfortunately. Personally, I think € 7.95 per month for shielding and using the extra fields is too much. A lot of items have been added in the past and about 300 DVD's to go, but I don't know if I want to invest my time in this anymore, the fun will soon go away.

'Perhaps you've been to a trade fair? That's the same principle. You pay in advance (and often more than 29.95 or 49.95) and then you have to be confident that you will sell enough. That mainly depends on whether the items you bring with you match the demand and whether you use somewhat competitive prices. '

I think this is a biased comparison. Depending on the fair, as a small trader you pay between 50 and 200 euros for a stall. You sell for a whole day or a whole weekend, people spend more money than usual and they make impulse purchases. Sometimes you get a multiple of your investment out of it, sometimes not, and sometimes it costs you more but hopefully you had a nice day.
I don't attend a trade show every month, not even every year, and certainly not as a private individual, but if I choose a trade fair, I can fairly well estimate what it will bring me. I can't say that about lastDodo, months go by that I don't sell anything, and then suddenly I make 100 euros in a month.
LastDodo is a collector's site, people go looking for the item they want, impulse purchases are rare, there are no signing artists that increase your turnover, and so on. Curved comparison.

Furthermore, I think it is only realistic that there must also be a revenue model for LastDodo, or at least income that covers costs incurred such as hosting servers, etc. So thank you for existing!

Over the years, as a comic collector, I have added and supplemented a lot of missing items in the catalog. Always done with pleasure, because good for the fellow collectors on an otherwise free platform.
Now that the platform is going to charge money for the shops here (as a result of which the supply goes down due to stopping shops -something that affects me as a regular buyer of the offer here on the site at times-), there is also something to be said about the introduction / improve the items or do you expect us to continue doing this for free for a company that is clearly going in the "give money here" direction?

My expectation here is that someone will step up and create a (freely available) alternative website and LastDodo will slowly fade into oblivion just like the Dodo itself.
Sorry, but so be it...

Completely agree with Guustflater and Fenstrips.
I am a collector and I am willing to spend some money to be able to export the data. But 7.95 Euro is really too much money, I don't have that for it.
I don't use my own fields, so VIP subscription is only important for export. Notably, I hope that not just anyone can see my collection. That would be super bad.

There is only no payment obligation for buyers. So there is a chance that the seller has to pay commission on a product that has never been paid for.

" With these changes, we are convinced that the continuity of LastDodo is guaranteed. Ultimately, every platform needs a source of income to continue to exist. "

That source of income was of course the auction part, which was eventually sold for a considerable amount.

Toniovanvugt ,

There are of course differences between a fair and this platform, but I meant the principle that you pay an amount in advance for your place and then, based on your offer, you will have positive and negative outliers in terms of sales.

And compared to this, our pricing is not that crazy:
Depending on the fair, as a small trader you pay between 50 and 200 euros for a stall.

And then with us you also have no petrol costs, no catering costs, etc.
;-)

@Rene:
We're on a collector's platform here. Full of collectors!
Why was it not decided to go in a direction with your own unique items where you can pick up your margins?
For example a LastDodo issue of a comic or book..
Coffee mugs, lighters and commemorative coins with LastDodo on them..

Margin and promotion in 1 on a site with collectors..

No, if you expect this, it is better to pay per month. Then you can stop every month.

> And what is considered sufficient commitment in terms of entries to not have to pay any or part of the subscription costs?

That depends not only on the number, but also on the quality of the input, etc. The administrators of the relevant section and the catalog managers can look at this together.

> I also did not see an answer to the question whether the max selling price of € 75 will be increased. Isn't that more than reasonable for shops that pay 29.95 or more per month?

Agreements have been made about this when the catalog platform became independent as LastDodo. Unfortunately, this is not yet possible for the time being.

Furthermore, I think it is only realistic that there must also be a revenue model for LastDodo, or at least income that covers costs incurred such as hosting servers, etc. So thank you for existing!

Thanks signal Our goal is indeed to cover the costs so that we can continue to develop new functionality. For example, there is a lot of demand for a new app and it takes quite a bit of development time to set it up properly.

No, because the actual turnover is registered. Canceled sales are not part of that, of course.

Correct. We assume that most people in this category can get the VAT back because they are active in business. We are allowed to charge 0% VAT to business entrepreneurs within the EU but outside the Netherlands, so the amount including VAT is the same.

The price including VAT at 21% is listed below the amounts excluding VAT.

My shop *had* a value above 30,000 and should therefore cost a hefty sum. The shop is now empty.
Whether I will continue to keep my collection here I do not know yet.
When I look at the enormous amount of time that has been put into adding and improving books and movies over the years, “free” is not the first thing that comes to mind.

Rene,

'And compared to this, our pricing is not that crazy:
Depending on the fair, as a small trader you pay between 50 and 200 euros for a stall. '

I therefore choose not to attend a fair every month, not even every year, for precisely that reason. When I'm at a fair, it's with Zone 5300 (and we have a reasonable turnover), not as a collector/hobbyist. On LastDodo I am.
And sorry, I also find that distinction for collectors absurd. Your collection of audience if you don't pay? That looks suspiciously like blackmail :-)
By the way, I'm curious: if I now add something to the collection and put my time into it with scanning work, can I send you an invoice?

Boekenbytes , so for people who contribute a lot there is a possibility for a free subscription. We're going to take a closer look at that.

I do not have a VAT number, and yet I have to pay 21% VAT on a subscription. I am selling my complete collection that I have collected over 35 years. And about my contribution to the catalogue. 1322 imported items, and 8905 improvements. Am I "exempt" then? Don't even know how high my subscription fee will be yet. Since I have more than 30,000 in my shop.

For the past 10 years, of course, everyone kept it fair, because it was free.
But before that, in the old commission system, many sellers canceled orders that had indeed been sold. If everyone had paid their commission properly at the time, the limit of 75 euros would probably never have been set.

Our message states:

Collections that are now private will never be opened up just like that. The user can only add to such a collection again after making it public or purchasing a subscription.

So a private collection is never just made public. nlwbr0 Toniovanvugt
