#3185945

I know it's annoying, maybe 20 answers have already been given, but.

What does #3185945 fall under ???.

It is a composite item, consisting of three sections. Postmarking, postcard and postal stationery. Where are these placed? There can only be one, an absurd rule in my opinion.

Charles1971 Assuming the stamp is printed with the card (the yellow sidebars next to the perforation make me a bit hesitant) I would classify this stamp with postal stationery as the original importer did.

In addition, you can discuss whether "occasion card" may / must be introduced as a second type.

Post stationery I agree, because:
Umschläge und Postkarte mit aufgedruckter Briefmarke - PLUSBRIEF und PLUSKARTE
Printed and not pasted, so.
With that it can NOT be an occasion card, because it says:
• Printed with text and/or image related to the issue subject.
• Covered with stamp(s).
• Stamping. Preferably with, if available, a stamp specially created for this issue.

I know it's annoying
Not at all. It's good to keep these kinds of issues in the spotlight. You go blind to it.
There can only be one, an absurd rule in my opinion.
Nor is it a strict rule. After all, it is possible. From the basic manual:
Lastdodo is based on the maxim that everything that can come loose will come loose and sooner or later will end up loose on the collectibles market. If a book is released with an accompanying bookmark, that bookmark should be included as an appendix to the description of the book in the catalogue. But sooner or later copies of that bookmark will come loose on the market. Therefore, in addition to the book with bookmark (the 'complete' item), that bookmark may also be imported as an independent catalog item.
and for objects consisting of several components:
If the object consists of several components that each fit into a different category, different solutions are possible: Choose the most important component. Enter the item in the appropriate section for that component according to the rules of that section and list the other component in the details. Suppose you have a history book with an accompanying CD with existing sound fragments. Then the book is probably the most important component. In that case, the item will be entered as a book in Books, and the details will state that it comes with a CD. For a CD of an opera with a libretto, the audio CD is probably the most important component. In that case, the item will be entered as a CD in the Records, CDs and Vinyl section, and it will be stated in the details that a booklet with the libretto goes with it. Instead of opting for one section, both components may be entered in the correct section for that component, so for the audiobook the book in books and the CD in records\cd's. Please note in the details of each component that it was originally released with the others. The condition is that both components are in themselves a complete and collectible object.

stripspeldjes and az60 Thank you for being so sharp. I think Charles1971 almost has the full answer with this one.

The only thing that still floats a bit is the postmark. From another thread I know that a crop can be included with postmarking. In this case I wouldn't do it, because stamp and postal stationery are very similar here.

Where are these placed?
I'd say, like Collectioneur, it's a postcard. The front is then largely the descriptive factor. But different backs also fit this.
I would additionally apply the following line from the Basic Handbook:
Instead of opting for one section, both components may be entered in the correct section for that component, so for the audiobook the book in books and the CD in records\cd's. Please note in the details of each component that it was originally released with the others. The condition is that both components are in themselves a complete and collectible object.
And so I would also enter it under the stamps section as a postal stationery. In fact, only the 'seal' is relevant here. And I further emphasize that there are no occasional postal stationery and such nonsense. The front is also totally irrelevant. You only collect them as a postcard. Just 1 postal stationery per stamp, but variations are possible. But only variations from that pictured 'seal'. So 1 with teeth, 1 without teeth, 1 in color, 1 in black and white, etc. That's the basis.
And the postmark is completely separate from a postcard or postal stationery. So it can always be added as a separate postmark to the Other: postmarks section. I think/hope that it should be possible in a way that is acceptable to all different collectors.

But honestly, az60 Helv stripspeldjes , this entry can be included in three categories. The front for postcards, the back for postal stationery (stamps) and the cut-out of the stamp for postmarking. Or does someone else see this differently?.

Charles1971 az60 stripspeldjes I'll just copy the text of Rene from the parallel thread:

It would help me if I could find somewhere what LD's vision is

In short
Helv :
On LastDodo we catalog everything that has been issued / manufactured serially (in editions) and we divide these items - for the sake of clarity - into recognizable categories such as stamps, coins, postcards, etc. For each category, specific fields have been defined in which the relevant characteristics of the items in the relevant section can be described as accurately as possible. In doing so, we should not lose sight of the practical side and ensure that most importers can properly enter their items in the catalog (ie in logical categories and recognizable fields where not many fields are required unnecessarily).

I think Raoul62 is perfectly capable of making a good definition of what a maximum card is.

Would be nice. I think they can just stay where they are in the stamp section. If the definition is there, it can also be checked whether there are now maximum cards in, for example, the Postcards section, which then have to be added to the Stamps section.

There is also a place for postal stationery in the stamp section and are. The definition is simple: Anything with a pre-printed postage valid stamp. It does not matter whether it is a blank envelope, an envelope with a picture, a blank card, a card with a picture next to the address and blank on the other side or a card with a photo on the other side.

Sounds like a logical and simple definition indeed.

Take a look at where you stand:
A postcard and a removal card with the same pre-printed stamp on both cards are identical items? Only 1 of both items is included in the catalog?

Unfortunately, that's what it says. So apparently this only concerns the pre-printed stamp and so a postcard and a removal card with the same stamp are 'identical'. Besides, it was asked as a question...

Only 1 of both items is included in the catalog?

Morits Also for you : just read what it says.
You are taking the text out of context. It is an answer to Rene : What is a postal stationery? Everything with a pre-printed stamp. There is no reference to "identical" anywhere.
That's like asking: What is a comic? Everything with drawn pictures. So everything is "identical".

If it says it doesn't matter what the stamp is pictured on, then they are 'identical'. That's why it's in quotes, read carefully

Thank you. Now this card is already in the catalog, it is still the case that with a circulated card the name and address given on the front and back must be "taped" Because then little of such a card remains..

#7440049 is an option.
But #1516871 could also have been.
This brings us more or less back to the starting question. Where do these kinds of items belong? In which section? They can be placed in multiple categories and they will be.

#8786865 album cover, sticker or postcard?
Originally I had entered a few on postcards. Later I learned that they were album pictures. This was a 'by-catch', so not my thing. I also started from the shape and the back which looked like a postcard.

you really don't read well, if it says that the carrier DOES NOT matter, then the STAMP depicted on it is therefore identical. Read and don't always want to make witty comments and don't want to face the facts. I may not be a stamp manager, but I have been collecting stamps for 60 years, so I know a little bit about it.

Well I would also enter it at Postcards.
Aren't the dimensions (13.5 x 9 cm) a bit big for an album plate?
And if it is an album picture, what is the point of the info (= number and the name and motorsport in 4 languages).
And isn't it usually the case that a postcard also contains a description and often also a number and publisher? And here also exist series.
And is there an album of yes or no here.
If I were to stick it in, the 'info' on the back of the 'image' would have disappeared. Unless the info is in the album.
The question here is then: why is the info on it in 4 languages?
Or does that exist: 4-language compilation albums?
I know 2 languages, Panini - Dutch-French, so Panini only had to have 1 album made.
Once sniffed at LD.
Vanderhout: publisher/manufacturer of album pictures
Vanderhout international editions bv (with a U and with a V): publisher of postcards
And if it's an album picture, what good are the features of a postcard that are on it now? Totally useless if you stick it in... Only the number and name would be useful...
