Are there any guidelines for placement of images, especially in the case of magazines?

Is this the case: keep an image as neat as possible, and if possible, pimp it up a bit with Photoshop? Or does it not matter?

Does it have to be a scan of the front and back, or can it also be a photo?
(Some sheets are larger than A3 and they do not fit completely my copier).

And if you have a neater image of an existing image, would a new upload be appreciated?

Image 1: front (mandatory)

Image 2: reserved for the back (can also remain empty, but places are highly appreciated).

Image 3: Free use, eg something special from the song

Do not photoshop (unless there is a privacy-sensitive residential address on the front), please replace bad images, preferably scans, but photos are also allowed.

Okay, thanks for your comment.

And then one more question:
I just posted some images of De Groene Amsterdammer. The size of the newspaper is about A2 (some volumes are even slightly larger).
What's better: put the whole front page on the image, or just the top of the fold?

Of course, the point is that your images should be as clear as possible. In this way, collectors, administrators or people who search for or find the item (in this case magazines) in the Catalog can more easily recognize.

A clear photo / scan also makes the details easier to see, making the data can also be checked.

With magazines / books or other items larger than A4, it is often more difficult to place them under the scanner, because then you will not get a whole. Only if you have a scanner that can scan larger items, but they are often more expensive.

If you want to use a scanner, you can also scan parts and then use Photoshop or a similar program. stick together as 1 whole. Just make sure, as Arco said, that you don't change the image! It should resemble the original as much as possible.

When taking photos, make sure you have as little background as possible, this will only distract from the actual image. You can easily cut that off with a simple photo editing program, but also with Photoshop.

Thanks for your comments.
I have now added a few things to my collections. And that is going well. There is still a lot more to come :)

Then I still have a few questions:

- What at HP / De Tijd (among others) often is a flap on the cover. That flap covers about half of the front and back. Usually it contains the topics that are discussed in the magazine. Which is better then: scan with or without this flap? Or both - as an additional image?

- Magazines usually (almost always) have advertisements on the back. I can just post it, I assume?

Yes, just place it as image 2. Please even.

In the case of a flap, we would like to see image 1 without flap and image 3 with flap.
