Can an administrator go through the ECU letters? Almost everything has been entered twice and now a month ago someone found it necessary for a number of
(10x) change the title to:

DOUBLURE of - this is a FDC (stamp category)

And those 10 are numbers that are referred to in the correctly mentioned doubles. What a spaghetti.
It is a series of 42 different ones. There are now 84 entered.

They are and remain FDCs. See the Stamps handbook. Those who are not familiar with Stamps can read the definition and description of an FDC there:
envelope - postage stamp - stamped by a postal service on the day of issue of the stamps on it.
Anyone who cannot recognize a postmark and a date should also stay away from it.

They were not present in the stamp section. A stamp collector will not look for stamps in a medal section. What is allowed there is the problem of that section.
Anything that belongs in a particular section but cannot be found there will be added.
The items are now, rightly, in the correct Stamps section, where they can be found by collectors of those special postal items. No more and no less.
All other appearances in the categories coins, medals, other, aviation, comics ... are taboo. Those special postal items, which listen to the name FDC, do not belong there.

In other words, that 'someone' is me.
That they were originally in the right place and suddenly disappeared (without leaving an address), 'someone' also took care of that. But then 'someone else'. Someone who has proven with it how great the knowledge is about those pieces.

I would like to know from Rene who is responsible for the systematic and structural migration of a whole series of items from the appropriate category to an inappropriate category.

A wise man once wrote on this forum 'anything that can be released will eventually be released and may be placed loose in the appropriate section.
The ECU coins can easily be included in the Medals section.
But the complete pieces with envelope, stamps, and postmark on the date of issue of those stamps in the section Medals? That's quite a lot.
A book with a coin still belongs in the book section, and not in the token section (as a coin).

More information about such things can be found in the Official Stamp Catalogue 'Special collecting areas of the Netherlands', published by Zonnebloem.

What the column eventually becomes is not that interesting. It has been there since 2009.
What I find particularly disturbing is that you handled the duplication incorrectly.
There are also many sellers who have those items for sale and you decide that it is not good. They can no longer be found by title.
And then you don't do it completely. So your approach is simply harmful to the catalog. Should have approached an administrator to tackle it thoroughly.

Torenzegels

Since 2009 they were in the stamp section. since I've been on LD they were also for sale in my shop (multiple copies) via the stamp section.

Suddenly there was no more turnover for it on LD ... no interest ... then I took it out of my shop and offered it for sale elsewhere. Immediately a lot of turnover there.
What I hadn't noticed was that someone had migrated them from the stamp section to the medal section!!! I only saw that afterwards.

Since they could no longer be found in the stamp section, where they belong and where I searched, I dutifully added them to the appropriate section (stamps).

Good luck with it in the medals section. But they are and remain items for the stamps section. Too bad for those who offer them for sale via the medals section ... there will be hair on it before one will be sold there. They also have a very strange shape to be called a 'medal' :)
I just had to put my items for sale from that other site back here. In the meantime, they have all been sold there (as philatelic products of course, not as medals lol).

So I can determine that it was not good, because I myself was a victim of it. And all those others that they are now offering for sale are still. Without realizing it or ever noticing it, they are offering philatelic products via the section Medals. They might as well be in the section Other.

I could throw a curse word at it, but there is already a bit of getting used to the lack of expertise of certain self-proclaimed specialists in philately. Especially when it concerns a postmark with a clearly legible date. Not normal anymore.
Hence: good luck with it.
Someone has made a mess of it. And someone is going to have to clean up the mess.
Because of the incompatibility of the fields between the categories I have made it easy for the person who has to clean it up. The items are back in full regalia with the appropriate data (and the associated magic 'Issue group') in the appropriate category, and they are easy to find with the code word 'duplicate' in the non-appropriate category. Only merge and it can be fixed again.

It does not help to make the items marked with 'duplicate' unrecognizable again in the inappropriate category.

Lots of text but little constructive.

You nailed 10 items. Which section they belong in is worth a discussion. But your action solved nothing, only caused damage.

Just change it back to how it was. And if it goes back to Stamps. I don't care. It's better to give such a hybrid item 1 number and make it visible in 2 categories.

Considering that the Teleletters are also included in Stamps:

  1. Home
  2. Catalog
  3. Stamps
  4. Species
  5. Teleletter
Does it make sense that the ECU letters are also added as a type?

Since I have not seen anything in this discussion from the super administrators of both Stamps and Medals/Pennies, I will attempt to undo this split of the same item.
In both categories such items are originally entered, each with the best intentions. They are also collected in both categories and offered in shops. That is not a happy situation.

It seems to me that the entire item (FDC envelope + Stamp(s) + Cancellation + Medal) belongs in the Stamps category.
I have no objection to the medal itself being included in Medals / Medals, so images 1 and 2 only the medal. The accompanying envelope can optionally be entered as image 3 et seq.

There will certainly be comments on this, but please provide a well-argued alternative.

It seems to me that the entire item (FDC envelope + Stamp(s) + Cancellation + Medal) belongs in the Stamps category.
On a personal note, as long as the items are together, I have no preference whether this is with Stamps or with Medals.

Under the motto equal monks equal hoods I am of the opinion that if the ECU letters are moved in their entirety to FDCs under stamps the Teleletters should also be added to FDCs. The latter also fits better in the framework of internationalisation.

Here too a similar problem occurs: Teleletters are listed under both Stamps and Telephone Cards. See for example 261523 and 536643 (indeed DUPLICATES).
Both were introduced in 2009. The item in the Stamp category has 46 users, the item in Phone Cards has 17. You can't do statistics on 1 item, but it confirms the direction you propose.

Should this be raised on the Phone Card Forum? If there is agreement I will add the Telebriefs to the FDCs in line with the aim of not having any Netherlands-specific types.

Collectioneur the coins are almost all entered separately, also the case with the phone cards. Good that it is solved.

What a mess it has become now...
While all items were ready in the stamp section, with all details filled in correctly + in the wrong section the items were recognizable by 'DOUBLURE' + the LD number with which they could be merged ...
A few seconds of work and everything was fine right away.

Now they are duplicated (the original items from the stamp section that were transferred and now put back... with the loss of all that data due to the frequent moving of sections).

Does someone really have to dress up all those blown over bare items (search for and enter data)? And then make the already prepared complete items (that no longer need work, and the images are of better quality) disappear via merging?
I immediately think of a government company...

Too bad about all my prep work. Free, and also for nothing ...
You don't get me to do something like that twice. Next time I'll just throw the problem on the forum and wait for 'Someone' to solve it. Much easier. Only ... 'Someone' hasn't created an account here yet.

Thanks for being so enthusiastic about quickly fixing a problem that cost me hours of work and also put quite a strain on the system. First merged about 20 duplicates in the usual way, keeping the best complete images. Then migrated the remaining 53 items to a location that is clearly recognizable for everyone.

Yes, it is true that some people's work is undone by merging. But that is the nature of fixing duplicates.

With my preparation it was
A few seconds of work and everything was fine right away.

It could even be done by a super manager of the receiving section (stamps).
The items were ready, with all their details (including issue group and catalogue numbers) and a good image to receive, via merging, the searchers, suppliers and collectors of the item that had lost all its details due to the back and forth hassle (and was no longer in the appropriate category).
I can keep explaining it... Anyway.

My next preparation will probably lead to a handbook of crown caps. They spontaneously end up in collection when you have to flush such situations :)

Too bad we disagree about what the good images are in this case.
The agreement is that the complete item will be listed in Stamps. Those complete items were in Medals, complete with front, back and medal. In some indicated duplicates only the front was available with possibly a vague back.
That was and is the reason why I reversed those duplicates in order to get the correct images in Stamps.

You can keep on complaining, but be happy that a problem that has existed for more than 10 years has finally been solved. Beatus, qui prodest, quibus potest

Happy? Of course, that it's resolved.

They were definitely in the stamp section 3 years ago. Because I had regularly sold some of them through that section. They simply (by mistake, through ignorance or on purpose, no idea) suddenly disappeared from the stamp section, and now appeared to have surfaced in another section, where some of them were already there ...
CaR sometimes had strange situations, but in this case their input was justified. Originally.

For now, everything will be fine again. Until they disappear again, by mistake, ignorance or on purpose?

The cumulative effect of efforts undone by ignorance, incompetence or insufficient knowledge becomes great over time.
Such as when wanting to eliminate duplicate FR issue group names. Where a super administrator undoes such a (still justified) change (puts it in red) so that those eliminated duplicate FR names return ... You can only hope that the person who is so lavish with red continues the work (eliminating duplicate issue names in other languages) there.
In the history of a number of items I have seen that something like this has happened in the past. Yes-no games. I don't participate in that.
LD is not occupational therapy, but it is a useful way to spend time.
Rather help transfer from the Netherlands to the Netherlands - City and regional post. Must also happen. Or push to make a manual for a section where there is none yet. Efforts that are less likely to be refused (put in red) because of personal circumstances or lack of expertise.
