I just switched to Windows 11 and after almost 15 years of faithful service, my Mustek Pageexpres A3 flatbed unfortunately no longer works (no suitable drivers available).
That's why I wanted to tap into the collective intelligence of the Lastdodo users. What do you use, and are there any good, affordable A3 scanners for Windows 11?
I know you're expected to do everything with your phone these days, but for basic tasks, nothing beats the quality of a decent scan.

but for flat matters, nothing beats the quality of a decent scan.

Totally agree pegag .

Have you already searched for the scanner in the Windows 11 settings? In principle, it should be possible to connect your old scanner to Windows 11.

pegag a few solutions could be:
m.windows store : scanner app
NAPS2 recognizes a lot of scanners (even old ones), a bit basic and free.
Possibly the program XNview .
An expensive solution is Vuescan (no idea if it will work).
The driver problems in W11 are due to the discontinuation of Twain versions, which many older printers/scanners/combi systems work with.
And very occasionally... Turn on the scanner FIRST, and then the PC ;-)
Success

I know that nowadays you are expected to do everything with your phone,
I have no idea where that requirement is. I prefer to scan everything and do that via my laptop. My phone is overflowing with all those photos! However, I can't reach my scanner at the moment, and I'm no longer allowed to at work, so I take photos of everything. But that's purely a necessity.

But on the topic: unfortunately, MS's power over your computer has grown steadily, and they insist you always use the latest equipment. If you have an old scanner, I don't expect new drivers, because that's not commercially viable. Using an old computer is a solution, or switching to Linux, as it doesn't check equipment. But are there drivers for that?

A solution for Windows with older scanners is VueScan. However, it costs €78:

https://www.hamrick.com/purchase-vuescan.html

(And you can download a test version to see if it will work with your scanner at all) I recently bought it because I also have an old negative scanner, but it is very pleasant to use, I must say, much nicer than the free software that comes with the scanner.
An alternative is to buy a Brother MFC printer/scanner (but that also costs something)

Regarding Linux: It's certainly become more user-friendly in recent years, but whether you can easily get your scanner working is questionable. You could try a so-called "LiveCD" (a USB drive with pre-installed Linux) to see if that works: https://help.zorin.com/docs/getting-started/install-zorin-os/
(I linked to Zorin because it seems most like Windows. I use Kubuntu myself.)

Printer HP deskjet 3050A.
