I can't do much with #5776699

Originally entered as MI 101b violet-black, but with the best will in the world, I cannot link the color of the image to violet-black. I lean more towards a color variety of MI 100. MI 142 also deviates too much.

There are a striking number of collectors and sellers attached to such an unclear item. The question is whether they relied on the MI number, and when, before or after the re-registration on August 22, 2020. Looking at the image, I do agree with that adjustment, but ideally I would like to reject the entire item (which is no longer possible) to ask the importer to reconsider and possibly resubmit it. However, I suspect that this person is no longer active.

Proposal: adjust color variety of MI 100, year, and issue group accordingly.

On second thought, based on the image, I think: a duplicate or variety of MI 142

I do not associate the color of the image with violet-black
Violet-black seems extremely unlikely to me indeed.
The strange thing is that the Yvert and Scott numbers now also refer to "violet noir" and "dark violet" respectively. The previously introduced Mi 99 was indeed brown.

Besides merging, the other option is to restore the color to "Violet Black" and remove the image.

Given the confusing history, I would personally choose to register this stamp as a DOUBLURE of #641269 (Mi 142 / Yv 101). Without the stamp in my possession, I would not make it a color variety in this case.

Thank you, I agree. The stamp has been adjusted.

Is there a way to inform sellers and collectors that they need to check this item in their shop/collection?

Super-managers have this option. I expect the person completing the DOUBLURE to do so.
