William Hillman a fondé la Hillman Motor Car Company en 1907. En 1963, Hillman a innové avec l'introduction du Imp. Cette petite voiture innovante, construite à Linwood, Glasgow, était équipée d'un moteur de 875 cm3 à arbre à cames en tête tout alliage développant 39 ch et d'une suspension indépendante polyvalente. William Hillman founded the Hillman Motor Car Company in 1907. In 1963, Hillman broke new ground with the introduction of the Imp. This innovative small car, built at Linwood, Glasgow, featured an all-alloy, overhead-camshaft 875cc engine developing 39bhp, and all-round independent suspension. In September 1976 the Hillman name disappeared as the Chrysler (UK) organisation took over the entire range.
