As far as I am concerned, Viennese prints near Indonesia, in the back. Agree with Sinbad.

RMS are also known to me as cinderellas, but still interesting if they did serve as postage stamps. I am curious about more information and other opinions about this.

@ Erik,

That there are many inconsistencies in every Catalog is clearly often indeed because they no longer (can) adjust the old numbering of the past, but we (Catawiki) can do that, can't we? ;-)

Viennese prints are (albeit not much) really used, so just stamps from Indonesia in my opinion, in almost the whole world it is seen that way, especially in Asia, it is more of a political story that we (Dutch) see it as a kind of Cinderella In our view, Indonesia did not yet exist, most stamps printed in Vienna only came (due to the Dutch blockade) to the "Perang Merdeka" (independence) in circulation, mainly on Java.

The Moluccan RMS stamps are yet another story, I have been led to believe that they have really walked (with the Bejak from kampong to kampong), pieces of Moluccas have been temporarily "liberated" and also in areas that are under the control of the Indonesian wax will have driven mopeds with a ticket from the RMS from Rumah to Rumah so if you are very strict they have never been official but (in theory) used, so interesting enough for certain collectors and perhaps also for the many RMS Moluccans who live here, I personally think that stamp collectors are Merdeka (Free) in their heads and should be able to collect as they think history works without having to take into account what is politically correct with whom.

So ... Republic of Maluku Salatan as a stamp country in Catawiki (just because we are free to think and find what we think / think is nice May 5 thought) have already come up with a nice ISO code (RMS) ;-)

I see that the current catalog contains stamps from the interim period (so they were issued in the turbulent time before the establishment of the Republic of Indonesia)

This is a difficult period because there is also a lot of manufacturing work.

I am in favor of placing this in a separate chapter, after all, they are not seals of the Republic either.

Maybe other collectors / maintainers have an opinion on that.

In any case, Maluku Salatan seems like something for the Cinderella's, although here it is not a dreamland but a dreamland ...

A new database USA has just been imported. This fixes errors in the descriptions that were in the first 200 numbers (was shifted column), expands the database to 2002 and adds a few hundred images. Remains a further expansion of the images and an update to 2008, which is largely finished.

After that, there is of course still a lot to do with perforations, types etc.

First, Indonesia is added, I think it is a very valuable addition with, among other things, Zonnebloem numbers and complete up to and including 2008. The images are fairly complete.

A solution has yet to be found for the part where the database doubles with the NVPH, such as the early years and UNTEA. These parts are not being charged yet.

@Sinbad

You are largely right. The NVPH - like many other catalogs - was created over a long period and under various editors. Inconsistencies have emerged there over time (as in other catalogs). With a short hiatus, I have been a member of the CatCom for about 15 years and have corrected some inconsistencies here and there in a 'firm discussion'. O.A. arrangement Bontkraag and Lebeau. As a 10-year-old boy, I was not able to make decisions about the emissions you mention .....

In addition to inconsistencies, there is also something like progressive insight. With today's knowledge, you would have done things differently in the past. For example, I have trouble with the inconsistent numbering of stamps from blocks, which have become numbers from a certain year onwards. With the 'old' the brand-worthy status of LP9, which is not an airmail stamp at all, and must be included with the 236/37.

However, correction is difficult. Preprint albums are based on the catalog, number systems change meets with great resistance. There was once a major renumbering (I thought in '66) and that led to very strong reactions. Also think of shipments, store stock books, manco lists.

The numbers 774/776 can still be defended. These stamps have been explicitly put into circulation as a test and have also been announced as such. FDCs have even been published. As far as I am concerned, the 882/3 and 884/5 could have been just like the 618/34 a and b numbers. But then again in bold, which gives them a different status than perforation variants.

You should write the KMA as an 1178 regardless of print with an excerpt in a and b below. I think this is a good comment, which I will include in the CatCom next year.

Incidentally, there are significant inconsistencies in every catalog. Most consistent is m. I. the Michel, but when I look at the booklet / pages from booklet section I get very sad again. Who collects it like that? (Eg the English or Swedish books). And it also differs per country.

@ Eric,

As an extension of the previous discussion, just 2 questions about the NVPH catalog that you also participate in,

The Netherlands is not really my specialization but understand / miss the logic of

1) Stamps 882-883 & amp; 884-885, 884 = 882 but with phosphorus but 465 becomes 465B why 465 is but not 465A? the same goes for 618 to 634 all B but no A but again 464 and 774, 468 and 775 and even more vague 618, 618A and 776? or is phosphorus a variety and fluorescent a completely different seal?

2) KMA 1978 no 1165 there are 2 varieties imprint black-blue and imprint dark blue, but they have not been given an 1165A or 1165B number?

Again it's not my specialty I'm just curious

@ Erik,

Okay so the main number is just the stamp without watermark and perforation (so also without catalog value I assume?) That does not exist.

The actually existing stamps with perforation or watermark get an extra letter with catalog value (sorry Erik feels a bit stupid that I just don't get it).

Specifically for Vietnam, almost all topic stamps are also issued without teeth.

Then there is a seal e.g. 112 entered without perforation and without catalog value?

Then a 112A with perforation and catalog value?

and a 112B without perforation and with catalog value?

Then you get that North Vietnam and Vietnam (and also North Korea and the Arab states) have a catalog that consists of 80% basic stamps without catalog value and perforation, all with 2 variants?

Do I get it right now? mean is fine but not really useful for a beginner or I just don't understand what you mean (hope the latter even if it costs with intelligence points ;-))

Hello members,

I recently inherited a poke stamp collection. They are five boxes full, I think the Dutch collection is complete. Furthermore, there are almost all fdc's and ptt folders. I have tried to catalog the collection (see my catalog). But I have found that I don't have time for cataloging anyway.

Hence my question to the members if you know how best to sell the entire collection at once. Or one of you might be interested.

Kind regards

The main number will be the stamp REGARDLESS of perforation or type. As in the NVPH, see eg 3rd issue or Fur collar. (it is common in several catalogs).

So if there are three perforations, there will be four rankings.

You can hang a letter for variants behind the number. I think we still need to introduce a system into that.

You make the catalog accessible for the general collector but also suitable for the specialist.

It also prevents incorrect entries from collector or trade. (as with the comic books where laymen often serve or enter as first edition)

Is it also possible to make the country of the stamp mandatory?

I've been adding my stamp collection to Catawiki for several weeks, a very large one of 10,000 stamps at the very least, I've categorized them by country. I have no problem with a country covering more than 100 pages, because I just go through everything from old to new and add them, because I see almost all of them in my collection. But at the end I always have about 10 left per country, I then search for them by theme, geographically if possible, but some I don't find. Then I decide to add it to Catawiki, scan stamp, try to consult other sites for michel / yvert / stanley numbers, etc.

Well, I regularly receive a mailing back from 1 of the administrators with the fact that ... stamp already exists. and is therefore rejected. Sometimes an impossible task for me to find them.

Almost all stamps have a country name, only for some Arab countries it may be difficult to decipher, but experts know how to figure this out with google for example.

Can you add to stamps, but not make this field compulsory? I am even willing to look up all stamps that do not yet have a country name as help on my part, but I think that 90% of the stamps are searched first by country and then by theme.

an idea?

@ Erik,

But which stamp is the Main number? , the cheapest or the first published or the first is the Michel catalog or Ivert or .....?,

And the stamps in Catawiki do not have a number to which it is possible to attach variations (on the catawiki number itself, not the stamp I mean) or I do not understand (what you mean exactly)

Maybe clear for the basic collector (don't know what that is exactly) but I (and maybe I am an exception) just want to see all stamps a stamp with a different perforation or something else that is different makes it for me (actually very logical) another seal, right?

Or do I think too simple, I mean do not quite understand that ge-sup number (not only the why but also not the how in Catawiki)

Think that everyone who cares about Catawiki is also very grateful to you

as erik and rene know, my divorce troubles are very much through and I have not been able to use myself intensively for months, but know that cata builds up a bit on people like you and me

Anyone who can contribute his or her bit is welcome

I am very proud of cata wiki and everyone who is committed to it :)

I entered a PHQ card as an example. As a result of Rene's comments, I thought they should at least belong under "postage stamps". I have about 10 series of 4 to 5 cards so I would like to be sure where to enter.

Just an addition to this:

There are PHQ cards WITH and PHQ cards WITHOUT the relevant stamp. That makes it complicated. As Daan already indicated- I would place the cards WITH stamp under the maximum cards, the cards without under the postcards, but then they are crumbled.

PHQ also stands for Postoffice Head Quarters, they are the maximum cards issued by the postal service.

The purists among the maximum card collectors do not consider it to be real maximum cards because it is simply an enlargement, but they are certainly collected, both mint and with seal.

These cards fall under the heading postcards, theme stamps.

They have no postage value, therefore not under stamps. Sometimes maximum cards are made, then they belong to the stamps.

You can make a curio link to the relevant stamp that is depicted on the PHQ Card.

I came into possession of so-called PHQ cards, which are customary in England. Under what type / theme should these stamp products be imported?

Works with series and the variations mentioned together in America from 1911 are 1 stamp 3 watermarks and 6 perforations, example the 3 cent perforations 10-11-12-2 side-81/2 -10 -12 h-10-12 V-toothed and you still have some machine perforations and that is only 1 stamp and then you have 2 or 3 presses

It is certainly the intention to develop this further, but Cologne and Aachen were not built in one day, and a lot of voluntary work has to be done to map everything out even better! honestly, I want to get the world 'base' in it as soon as possible.

Germany is currently being deepened at the perforation and type level.

Dear jepotz,

Catawiki is for collectors, and they may / must be able to collect whatever they want, including just the stamp with a dog on it instead of the entire series of 20 pets.

Series only is only useful for traders who want to earn money quickly (offering single stamps and their more complex inventory management is simply a lot of work).

But Catawiki is mainly for collectors and traders can offer their stamps, if you only want to sell series, there is no one on Catawiki who will prevent you from doing so.

But a collector and specialist dealer must also be able to collect / sell the perforation differences.

If this option were seriously removed / adjusted then this site would no longer be usable for me and dozens if not hundreds of collectors and Catawiki would no longer be a sales site (and there are plenty of them already)

to make a world cat a different setup is needed you should not work with 1 stamp but with series and mention the variations together in America from 1911 on are 1 stamp 3 watermarks and 6 perforations example the 3 cent perforations 10-11 -12-2 side-81/2 -10 -12 h-10-12 v-imperforate and you still have some machine perforations and that is only 1 stamp and then you have 2 or 3 presses
