F – Au 19ième siècle Basutoland était bordé par la colonie du Cap, la colonie du Natal et la colonie de la rivière Orange jusqu’en 1910 et complètement entouré par l’Afrique du Sud à partir de 1910. Basutoland était une colonie de la Couronne britannique qui a existé de 1884 à 1966, lorsqu’elle est devenue un royaume indépendant sous le nouveau nom de “Lesotho”.
Des timbres du Cap de Bonne Espérance ont été utilisés dans le Basutoland jusqu’en 1910, puis des timbres d’Afrique du Sud jusqu’en 1933. A partir de 1933, des timbres propres ont été émis à l’exception d’une série de timbres d’Afrique du Sud en 1945 avec la surcharge “Basutoland”.

Basutoland was a British Crown colony that existed from 1884 to 1966, when it becames an independent kingdom under the new name “Lesotho”.
Stamps of Cape of Good Hope were used in Basutoland until 1910, subsequently stamps of South Africa until 1933. From 1933, own stamps were issued with the exception of a series of stamps of South Africa in 1945 with the overprint “Basutoland”.
