F - La série comprend 2 objets émis le 13 août 1928.
E – The series has 2 items issued the 13th of August 1928.
E – Two stamps were issued to commemorate the landing of Captain James Cook in Hawaii on August 13, 1778. He named his discovery the Sandwich Islands after Admiral Lord Sandwich. Hawaii was first an independent kingdom. In 1842, a trade treaty was concluded between the Kingdom of Hawaii and the United States. Missionaries and plantation owners in the United States advocated annexation by the United States. Between 1893 and 1898 Hawaii became a republic. President McKinley was in a hurry with the annexation of Hawaii, and undersecretary Theodore Roosevelt invented an incident with a Japanese cruiser on 22 March 1898, after which McKinley acted. The law of annexation was ratified on July 7, 1898, and from April 30, 1900, the area belonged to the United States under the name of Hawaii Territory. Due to the strategic location of the islands, the Pearl Harbor naval base was founded in 1899.
