That will be difficult. It means that you add an extra backing of Vinyl to all items. That seems like a huge job to me.

However, you can already go a long way by applying filtering by year. For example until 1982. You probably won't pick out all the vinyl, but most of it. Just tried it out on The Beatles. From 1900 to 1985 and then I find 765 items of the 1290. There are a few CDs from 1985 among them. So not quite right. What goes very well with filtering is to get all German LPs or French EPs in a list, for example.

You don't have to come up with emergency measures that pollute the database.
It just has to be solved programmatically, with a selection function in which you can check more than 1 carrier at a time.

That problem is largely solved once we disconnect the number of carriers from the carrier itself, as with DVDs. Also saves a laundry list of entries in the carrier table. And a migration is a piece of cake for Marco.

That's only because Marco still has to add that field to the filters. Is on the to-do list.
