Bredanaar Bay van der Bunt is in het bezit van ‘s werelds grootste verzameling oude dranken. De historische collectie bevat meer dan 5000 flessen van 250 jaar oude cognac, armagnac, port, madeira en likeuren. En al die unieke dranken zijn te koop voor zes miljoen euro.
De 63-jarige verzamelaar heeft zijn leven gewijd aan het vinden van de meest zeldzame en bijzondere sterke dranken op aarde. Veel cognac dateert zelfs uit 1789, het jaar van de Franse revolutie en de inauguratie van George Washington als eerste president van de Verenigde Staten.
Collectie van de hand doen
Van der Bunt en zijn vrouw hebben geen kinderen of potentiële erfgenamen, die in staat zijn om voor de exclusieve collectie te zorgen. “Om die reden moet ik het helaas van de hand doen”, zegt hij met een brok in zijn keel. Van der Bunt hoopt dat er een verzamelaar komt die zijn passie deelt en de gehele collectie overneemt.
Sommige flessen zijn de laatst overgeblevenen in de wereld, dus unieke objecten om te bezitten.

Get rid of collection
Van der Bunt and his wife have no children or potential heirs capable of taking care of the exclusive collection. “For that reason, unfortunately, I have to get rid of it,” he says with a lump in his throat. Van der Bunt hopes that a collector will come who shares his passion and takes over the entire collection.
Some bottles are the last remaining in the world, so unique objects to own.
