Thuis heb ik al mijn stripkasten al jaren geleden opgebouwt met patio blokken waardoor ik in staat was om elk hoekje en gaatje van mijn stripkamen optimaal te kunnen gebruiken. Van mijn eigen stripboeken en comics staat maar een klein gedeelte ingepakt omdat ik het in en uitpakken van mijn leesvoer een verschrikking vind als ik het wil herlezen.
In mijn winkel heb ik alles in door een meubelmaker op maat gemaakte kasten staan.

ik bewaar mijn strips in hiervoor speciaal gemaakte kasten, met dubbele wand en planken niet breder dan 40 cm en diepte 50 cm. Er staan 2 rijen boeken op, de planken zakken niet door.
Patric Hacha is een meubelmaker en heeft die op maat gemaakt en niet deur. Voorst bewaar ik mijn strips in plastiekjes afkomstig van Bonte uit Brugge (zeer stevig).

Ik denk dat je in het algemeen selectief moet zijn met het gebruik van plastic opslagmateriaal. Je moet er zeker van zijn dat ze weekmakervrij zijn. Vooral goedkopere plastics zijn dat niet. Niet-weekmakervrije materialen kunnen in de loop der jaren met drukinkt reageren. In de filatelie waren tot in de jaren ‘70 albums voor Eerste Dag enveloppen van niet- weekmakervrij plastic. Dat had tot gevolg dat enveloppen konden gaan plakken aan het plastic en niet meer schadevrij te verwijderen waren. (Het effect heb je nog sneller als je een kopie in zo’n plastic bewaart). Vooral goud en zilver zijn daar gevoelig voor. Maar er treden ook kleurveranderingen op. Het verradelijke is dat het pas na enkele jaren zichtbaar is, en de meeste verzamelaars hun collectie niet vaak uit het plastic halen…
Omdat ik heel veel schade heb gezien let ik er altijd scherp op bij de keuze van mijn opbergmaterialen. Zeker als dat materialen zijn die er noet specifiek voor bedoeld zijn. Kan me voorstellen dat ook voor strips dit van belang is.

Ja, inderdaad het is daarom dat ik het vraag. Zo ken ik iemand die de versussen van Suske en Wiske allemaal mooi in plastieke mapjes had verpakt. Na een tijd wou hij foto’s maken van alle boekjes om op zijn website te zetten. Dus al die plastiekjes terug opendoen. Resultaat: de covers plakte gewoon tegen de binnenkant van de plastieken mapjes aan en hij heeft alles kunnen weggooien. Maar ik heb ook al eens gezien dat een aantal strips zonder mapjes gewoon tegeneen geplakt waren door de tijd heen.
Daarom ben ik ook op zoek naar mapjes die te vertrouwen zijn. Ooit heeft iemand mij eens verteld dat je ook naar de zuurtegraad moet kijken van de plastiek, hoe steviger de mapjes, hoe hoger de zuurtegraad en dus ook meer kans op plakken. Volgens mij heb (had) je enkel bij PVC weekmakers en PVC ligt er al jaren uit. Werd vroeger wel veel gebruikt en dat is waarschijnlijk de oorzaak van al die problemen.
Ik denk dat je momenteel voor de niet te dure gewoon A4 opbergmapjes kunt gebruiken (enkele Euro voor 100). Dat oogt wel niet mooi.

I think that you can currently use A4 storage folders for the inexpensive ordinary A4 folders (a few Euro for 100). That does not look good.

Je kan je ook de vraag stellen of je die strips individueel, superdeluxe en perfect moet gaan verpakken. Die Melinex covers zijn nogal stijf en elke keer je de strip er uithaalt en insteekt ga je wat schaven.
Dus dat is perfect als je die strip 10 jaar of meer in de kast wil laten steken.
Ik wil ze nu en dan wel eens bekijken. Je kan ze dan beter met 20 of zo in een grote doorzichtige PE zak steken en die dan om de paar jaar vervangen.
Edit : dat oogt natuurlijk ook niet mooi, maar het mooist is om ze niet te verpakken natuurlijk ;O

Ik heb alles in Besta van Ikea, Degelijk, zwaar materiaal en planken zijn in hoogtes in te stellen, ook kun je er losse planken en deuren bij nemen. Mijn Donald Duck verzameling past er in, zowel lekturama, pockets, losse nummers, Big Fun, extra, enz. Alles op de juiste hoogte.
